The old 80/20 rule. We’ve all heard of it right? Works for being healthy – 80% nutrition, 20% exercise.
But fractals are everywhere. It doesn’t have to be 80/20. It could be 90/10 or 60/40, or ratios in between. But if you understand their power and learn to identify them, then you will have a much simpler, more profitable business.
Think about it, the majority of your profits comes from a handful of clients.
The majority or your customer service headaches come from a handful of clients.
The Rule of One is the simplest iteration of this power law.
Businesses who are trying to grow try to grow everything at once, but the fastest and simplest way to grow, is to grow one thing. I always say to my clients, focus on one thing, and get it to work first!
Focus on one funnel at a time:
One customer avatar.
One lead source.
One qualification and sales process.
One method of delivery.
When you perfect it, can demonstrate that it works, and make money out of it, then you have it! When you can truly understand this for the first time, all the bullshit will clear off your desk and focus will ensue. Sweet relief!
I know that for many of you I’m preaching to the choir. I’m hoping that this article wakes just one person up that’s been asking themselves these questions over and over. That person that works so hard, and feels like there’s no traction. The answer is simple. Focus on the the one.
Great strategies are never easy. There is still real work involved. But the key remains in its simplicity, and moreover, you have to be consistent in its delivery.
As with most deceptively simple things it’s easy to dismiss… but in my experience, simple things scale.
